Licensed Social Worker, Conditional

LSX

Entry-level conditional license requiring bachelor's degree and active consultation agreement on file with the Board.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree related to social work or welfare
  • Active consultation agreement required and on file
  • Cannot practice without active consultation
  • Cannot engage in private practice
  • Must notify Board immediately if consultation ends
Consultation Requirement: Must maintain active consultation agreement throughout license period. If consultation ends, must immediately cease practice until new agreement is established.

Licensed Social Worker

LS

Non-clinical bachelor-level license requiring BSW degree OR completion of LSX consultation requirements plus ASWB examination.

Pathway Options:

  • Option 1: BSW in social work/welfare from accredited program
  • Option 2: Complete LSX consultation requirements
  • Pass ASWB Bachelor examination
  • Consultation agreement required for first 2-4 years
  • Cannot engage in private practice

Licensed Master Social Worker

Licensed Master Social Worker, Conditional Clinical

MC

Conditional clinical license for master's graduates working toward full clinical licensure under consultation agreement.

  • Pass ASWB Master's examination
  • Active clinical consultation agreement required
  • Cannot engage in private practice
  • Working toward LC licensure requirements
