💻 New CORE Online System

Illinois launched a new online licensing system called CORE in October 2024. Applications processed through the online system are being approved much faster than paper applications.

🚨 Consider Other States

If you plan to practice in other states, they may still require ASWB exam scores. Consider taking the exam in Illinois for future mobility, even though it's not required for Illinois licensure.

📍 Supervision Requirements

Clinical supervision for LCSW must be provided by an Illinois-licensed LCSW. Out-of-state supervisors are not accepted, even with reciprocal agreements.

📅 Renewal Schedule

Illinois licenses expire on November 30th of odd-numbered years (2025, 2027, etc.). Plan ahead for renewal deadlines and continuing education completion.
